If you ask any little girl who their favorite princess is these days chances are they will say Elsa or Anna. Frozen is a total phenomenon. If you were to ask me the same question I would definitely go with Cinderella! She has been my favorite princess since I was a child. When I first heard Disney was remaking Cinderella I was nervous but after the fabulous job they did on Maleficent I had faith that it would turn out okay. Then, I saw the trailer and THE SHOES and knew the movie would be amazing.
Last week I was fortunate enough to be invited to join The Moms,Oral B and Crest for a private screening of Disney’s Cinderella and Frozen Fever. I wanted to bring Taylor but logistically it would have been difficult (since the theater was close to my job in NYC and she goes to school until 3 pm in Staten Island) and for some reason she was not wild about going. She is moving more towards the tween genre now and I think she thought it would be too babyish for her.
Before the movie began I got to preview the new Disney themed toothbrushes and toothpaste from Oral B and Crest and their fabulous Disney Magic Timer app. I think this app is genius. If you have a little one you know that getting them to brush their teeth for the recommended two minutes can be tough. The app plays a little movie for them to watch starring their favorite characters (Cars, Frozen, Star Wars, Doc McStuffins, etc.) and counts down the two minutes so they stay entertained and look forward to brushing. You can find more information here.
After that, I settled in with my popcorn and snacks and had a little chat time with Nicole from Mommy Tips by Cole, her charismatic daughters Emelyn & Maliya (you can check out their Youtube videos here), the super stylish Elle from Another Day Another Diaperand her hilarious daughterswhile we waited for the movie to start.
Cinderella was wonderful. I was totally blown away by the costumes and the styling! Even though Cate Blanchett was the Evil Stepmother her outfits were exquisite.
The movie stayed true to the original (which I appreciated because I love the story) and taught girls the valuable lesson to HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND.
I was so enamored with it that I convinced Taylor to see it with me. I wound up watching it twice in less than a week and I loved it both times. She adored both the Frozen short and Cinderella and I am glad I got to share them with her.
Frozen Fever and Cinderella are now playing in a theater near you and if you have not seen them yet I highly recommend you check them out.
Its official! I am THIRTY-TWO! I know a lot of people get all weirded out by their birthdays and it makes them feel old. I really don’t. I think this stems from being a young Mom. I had my daughter when I was 22. I had so many responsibilities at such a young age and while all my peers were single and partying I was home with a baby. Now that I am 32 everyone has caught up and we are all doing the same thing. I finally feel like I am the right age for my lifestyle (if that makes sense). Plus my husband is so thoughtful and fabulous at making me feel special on my birthday that there is no room for sadness.
My day began with kisses, love and Cadbury Eggs. Billy decorated the house with balloons and a sign (that I totally forgot to photograph) and Taylor and I had a nice breakfast together.
Usually I take the day off on my birthday to go to the spa and shop but I missed so much time at work (due to all the snow we’ve had this Winter) that I wound up doing a spa day last weekend and went to work instead. I got a huge, beautiful bouquet of flowers from my hubby that started the day off right. (Sidenote: does anyone know the name of that light pink, softball-sized rose in my picture because I am totally obsessed with it.)
I cut out a little early to get home and we went to our friend’s house for dinner. This is a tradition that is one of my favorites. Every year we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with their whole family and eat delicious corned beef and cabbage. It is so fun and festive!
After dinner and cake we ended the night with presents! Billy, Taylor and Jeter gave me the Gucci Soho bag that I have been dying for. (They actually got me one that was slightly larger than the one I asked for that I like even better.) I am OBSESSED.
All in all it was a totally fabulous birthday! I also want to take a moment to thank all my blog friends that emailed me and left comments wishing me a happy birthday! I appreciate the love! xo
Good morning loves! This weekend was fabulous. I didn’t want it to end. I managed to pack in so many fun things (but not too much that it felt rushed or left me exhausted).
Saturday was a family late lunch/early dinner at my favorite Mexican spot. I had the MOST DELICIOUS shrimp fajitas. So good.
Next it was off the see the New York Philharmonic with Taylor. I love going to Lincoln Center! I think it is so magical at night! We had a fabulous time and even though she was the only kid that I could see in the audience she is very mature and fit right in. We will definitely go together again soon.
Sunday morning I went to the spa for a facial and a much-needed massage. I hurt my back somehow in my sleep last week and I have had awful pain that I cant shake. I also have been pretty stressed out lately and relaxing and taking a breather definitely made me feel a little better. I don’t like to talk about negative things on my blog but I am a person just like everyone else and I have problems that at times seem insurmountable. Last week I found out that we owe a pretty serious amount in taxes, a horrible cleaner ruined the chain strap on my favorite Chanel bag and my birthday is coming up (which makes me feel old). I was carrying those things around with me and the relaxation I experienced at the spa really helped me to clear my head and put things in perspective. All those problems are solvable. I can get my bag fixed. I can pay the IRS. I have my family and we are healthy and that is all that matters really. Taking a little time out for myself to re-focus is so important sometimes.
After the spa I took Taylor and her friend to see Cinderella. I saw it last week as a media preview but I wanted to share the experience with my best girl so I took one for the team and watched it again. I enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
Afterwards I dropped off Taylor’s friend and picked up the hubby and we all enjoyed dinner at a new diner that is now our go-to. My pancakes were amazing! Does anyone else love breakfast for dinner as much as I do?
PS – The last picture is of my new coin purse. My girlfriend gave it to me for my birthday and I die laughing every time I look at it. Best gift ever!
Happy Friday Girls! I am so glad that this weekend is here! I have a few fabulous things planned. My birthday is Tuesday (Yes, St. Paddy’s Day!) so I am doing some celebrating this weekend and some more next. Tomorrow night Taylor and I are going to see the New York Philharmonic. We are going to get dressed up and go to dinner also so it should be pretty special. Sunday I plan to spend at the spa. All good things. Speaking of good things, here are my five favorites for this week:
1. Meme Generator Free. This app is the best thing that ever happened to me. Do you ever look at memes on the internet and wish you could write the wording yourself? This does that. There are 600 popular meme backgrounds (including Regina George, Batman Slapping Robin, Kermit Drinking Tea, etc.) and you insert your own text. Then, you can easily save it to your phone or share it. I introduced my bestie to it and we send them back and force to each other all day. Another plus is that it is free!
2.Buzzfeed Cats. I am sharing this with you because (a) I have no shame and (b) I know there are a few crazy cat ladies in the audience. Buzzfeed now offers a weekly customizable newsletter! One of the options is CATS! It will send you an email each week with the best cat images/videos! You can subscribe HERE.
3. Bette Midler. Jimmy Kimmel had Bette Midler on the other night singing Kim Kardashian’s tweets and it was hilarious! You can see the video above.
4. Cinderella. I had the pleasure of seeing Cinderella this week during a media preview and it was FANTASTIC. THE GLASS SLIPPERS! I need them. Seriously. So so gorgeous. Also, I know she was not the star but Cate Blanchett looked absolutely beautiful.
5. Cadbury Cream Egg Brownies. OMG. I am desperate to make these but I am so afraid that I will eat 98% of the tray myself. How good do they look? Mmmmmm. Cadbury Cream Eggs are my weakness.
I am linking up with April, Amandaand Dellafor Friday Faves. If you get a chance, please swing through and show them some love.
