Gift Wrap Tutorial: How To Make An Envelope Pocket #WrapGiveRepeat

Earlier in the week I mentioned that I like to get a head start on Christmas.  I don’t do well under pressure and if I leave things until the last minute I ruin all the holiday magic by stressing myself out and worrying.  I like to take my time, select my gifts and wrap them with care.  I also like to save money and in my experience the best time to get good deals on holiday shopping is in November (especially on Black Friday).  I am already almost done with my Christmas list (aside from the things I plan to buy on the 25th) and I have even begun wrapping.

I don’t like to just chuck things in gift bags.  I love paper goods, cards and ribbon and I enjoy getting a little creative with the way I package my presents.

Last weekend while doing some shopping at Walmart I stocked up on all my gift wrapping essentials.  I picked up rolls of fun wrapping paper, scissors, ribbon, bags of bows, cards, gift tags, pens, a Scotch® Magic™ Tape 3 Pack Caddie and a Scotch® Gift Wrap Tape 3 Pack Caddie.  Right now you can buy Scotch® Brand wrapping products at Walmart and save, with a 50% bonus & Rollback.

Scotch® Brand is donating $200,000 to Fisher House this holiday season.  Fisher House is a charity that provides a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.  I love that they are giving back to such a worthy cause!  I try to show my support for the armed forces whenever possible (especially during the holidays).  My Daughter and I just finished putting together a care package for a Marine that we “adopted”.  I will share some more on that next week so keep your eyes peeled.

I had so much fun looking at the decor, tree trimming supplies and lights at Walmart.  While I did hold back on buying that stuff, my cart was definitely full of wrapping supplies and I could not wait to get home to use them!

One of my favorite ways to wrap gifts lately is to create a handy pocket on the front of the package.  It is so easy and versatile.  You can put your greeting card in there or you can get a little creative.  I think it would be fabulous to wrap a book and put a cute bookmark in the pocket or wrap a mug with a Starbucks gift card tucked in front.  It can be used so many ways!

  1. Cut your paper longer than the amount needed to wrap your item.  (I like to use double the amount.)  Fold your paper in half (blank side out). Gift Wrap Tutorial - How To Make An Envelope Pocket #WrapGiveRepeat

  2. Fold back your top layer of paper creating your pocket; press to crease.

  3. Wrap and tape presents as you normally would, being careful to keep the pocket fold in place.
