Legacy Box Review – Part One {+ a promo code!!}

Last year during my move I found some 8mm tapes in a desk drawer.  It took a few seconds to realize what they were but when I remembered it brought a HUGE smile to my face.  Back in the Summer/Fall of 2001 I had a video camera.  I was 18, I bought it on a whim (and a credit card) and took it with me EVERYWHERE.  This was back before reality TV was a thing and way before it was an obnoxious thing.  I think the only TV show like that that even existed at this point was the Real World and it was probably early days.

Anyway, I had this camera.  I recorded everything.  Days at the beach, hanging with my friends, trips to NYC, the days following 9/11 in lower Manhattan, an epic Halloween party, etc.  Then, the camera broke.  I was devastated but I could not afford a new one so I forgot about it.  A few years later I had Taylor I did get a new video camera but it was a mini-disc one and I have hundreds of hours of baby footage on those.  As the years passed I have thought back to those 8mm tapes periodically and wished I had a way to watch them and to re-live those late teen days of fun and zero responsibility.

Fast forward to a few months ago when I met up with the crew from Legacy Box at a blog event.  Their concept is totally genius and perfect for a busy person (such as myself).  Even though I knew those tapes would bring me immense amounts of joy, I was always so busy with other things that I never prioritized getting them converted.  That is why they were sitting in my drawer for 15 years.

Legacy Box is a fabulous kit that is sent directly to your house via Fed Ex.  That way you don’t have to commit to going to a brick and mortar store.  Honestly, who has time for that?

There is a sheet of sticker barcodes.  You attach one to each tape, photo, cassette…whatever you are putting in the box gets a label.

Then, you put your filled Legacy Box inside the brown shipping box it arrived in, tape it up and attach the Fed Ex label that came with your kit.
