Oh Yeah…Ombre Hair!

As I mentioned recently in this post, I was struggling with the upkeep of my blonde hair and trying to decide on a new look that would be less maintenance for the remainder of the Winter.  I was considering two different options.  The first was to go totally dark and the second was ombre.  I have been a brunette before and I liked it but I had never done ombre.  I was on the fence about which way to go. Then, I went to see my hair girl on Saturday and when we were discussing my options she pointed out a problem with going darker that I had forgotten!  THE DREADED REVERSE ROOT!  This is a phenomenon that occurs  when you hair is dyed darker than your natural color.  When lighter hair starts to grow in, it looks like you have grey roots.  Since I was changing my color to avoid roots, that made up my mind for me very quickly.  We decided to do ombre but weave in some longer chunkier blonde highlights to break it up.  I am super happy with how it turned out!

Oh, YES! Gorgeous! I really love what you’ve done! The length is really perfect too. You are so lucky to have a hair person who will counsel you well and do great work! We’re new to LA (again after many many years). I’ve had my hair cut once here at a salon ($70) and it was alright and then I winged it and went to a hair school (cut and color for $60) and liked it better. Looking forward to finding “my person” here in LA!

Thanks Christina! Actually, I went through something similar when I moved to our current house. I had to find a new hair person as well and I had no idea where to begin. I saw a girl on Facebook that was a friend of a friend. I loved her hair so I emailed her and asked who she went to. That was a few years ago. Sometimes it is best to find someone who has lovely hair and ask for a recommendation. I hope you find your person soon! 🙂

OMG I love it! How timely… I’m taking the same plunge next week and I can’t wait! I did “phase one” of the ombre transition from super blonde about a month ago where we did some low lights and made some small changes. Next week we’ll do some color and adding some highlights… I can’t wait! Your hair looks gorgeous! Thank you for joining us today! xo

LOVE THIS! I just made a hair appointment for some color myself (it’s been ages) and I’m sooo excited about it! My hair is really, really short so I’m always so envious of gals who can get the full-on ombre! You look great it in! You go girl! Thank you so much for linking up with us today for Tuesday Tea! xo

Thanks Khala! I am always jealous of girls with short hair! I dont have the face/head shape to pull off short hair! I bet you can get out of the shower and get your hair dry and styled in minutes, huh? It takes me ages! I’m jealous of you! Thanks for doing the link up today! 🙂

Hi, new follower here. LOVE your ombre! I tried to get that in the fall but it didn’t quite turn out so I went scared back to blonde. I think I just have to find the right person, as you mentioned. Anyway, you’ve inspired me to search harder – your hair looks gorgeous!!

Thanks so much, Tammy! I think the secret to finding a good hair person is to find someone whose hair you love and then seek a recommendation. I have had luck that way! I have also had crazy hair failures like you would not believe! When I was younger my girlfriends dyed our own hair with kool-aid. It was a mess. I’ve also had some extremely unfortunate haircuts. Thankfully, it is just hair and it grows back. Good luck on your ombre and I hope you try again!

Oh, I really like your hair!! Very cute! I’ve been wanting to do something ‘different’ but just didn’t know what. You may have just inspired my latest ‘do! Thanks!
