Happy Friday!

Happy Weekend Loves!  This week was nice and short because of the holiday on Monday and I have to say I wish they could all be this way.  The days flew by and the weather was pleasant.  I have no complaints.

Today I am linking up with April, Amanda and Della for Friday Faves.  Here goes:

1.  May Book.  I ordered my first planner last June and I cant believe it but it has already been almost a year!  A lot of the people in my life are incredulous when I whip out my May Book.  They wonder why I don’t track things electronically but I am old school.  I like to see things all laid out on my calendar and write them in in different color pens.  I tried to use a planner function in my iPhone a while back and it lost two appointments on me.  I know I entered them properly and then poof.  They were just gone.  After that I could not completely trust technology when it came to my schedule.  When I write things in my May Book I know they are not going to disappear.  Plus, I am a sucker for a monogram.  I just ordered this one:

 2.  Sole Society Koa Sandals.  I kept seeing these on Pinterest and I finally dove in and bought them.  I am pretty tall so I tend to wear flats a lot and I love when I can find some that are pretty and interesting.

 3.  Samantha Faye Bracelet.  My BFF is the best person ever.  She is super smart, has a wonderful sense of style, is a fabulous Mom and Wife and is SO SO thoughtful and kind.  I could literally go on and on about her.  She is one of the most impressive people I have ever met.  In January of this year she spent a few weeks in Nepal building houses with Habitat for Humanity.  She fell totally in love with the people there and was absolutely devastated when the earthquake hit in April.  She has been actively seeking ways to help rebuild and has partnered with Samantha Faye to create a gorgeous bracelet.  35% of the proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity Nepal.  I am so proud of her and her generous spirit.

 4.  Haircut.  If you guys follow along on Instagram you will have seen my new haircut!  I just wanted to take a second here to say thank you!  I was playing with the idea of getting my hair cut and after mentioning it last week for H54F, the overwhelming encouragement that I received really put me over the edge.  I don’t think I would have done it otherwise and I am glad I did because I love it!  It is so much easier to style in the morning and it feels fresher and more intentional than having a long, dead mop of frizz hanging around.  You guys rock!

5.  Trader Joes Finds.  I went to TJs over the weekend on my way back from Target (#momlife) and I found two things that I have to share:

Trader Joes Cold Brew Coffee

This Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate is da bomb.  (Yes, I am totally bringing that back.)  You put two parts water and one part coffee over ice and flavor with milk and sugar to your liking.  I make myself a nice iced coffee every morning for my commute and I am obsessed with the flavor. Everyone might not enjoy it as much as I do, but that’s fine. If you love cold brew coffee as much as I do, Meet JoeFroyo. Through a company like this, you’ll be able to find cold brew coffee, which is gluten and lactose free! What more could you ask for! This type of drink is great for the hotter months. Once you start, you won’t be able to get enough.
 I highly recommend this!

Trader Joes Snickerdoodles

Oh Em Gee.  I almost don’t want to share these with you right now because I know it is bikini season but I cant keep my excitement contained on this one.  Taylor and I overheard a lady asking one of the store clerks where these were because she had them at a party and they were amazing.  We immediately followed them and picked up a box ourselves because we are vultures like that.  After we got home and had lunch we proceeded to eat the ENTIRE BOX.  My poor husband was doing laundry and I kept calling to him to come into the kitchen and try one of these most delicious cookies and he told me to save him one.  I literally had to get up and walk him over the last cookie because Taylor and I couldn’t be trusted not to wolf it down.  If you see these you have to buy them.  You are welcome in advance.

Okay lovies!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

SoFabU on the Road!

2014 was a big year for A Little Glitter.  It was the year that I set up my website, learned WordPress (the hard way), got it to a point where I was happy with the way it looked (after many hours of tears, tech support and small changes), met some other local bloggers and really got my feet wet in this crazy online World.

This year I am working on monetizing my site.  I know that can be a taboo subject in blogging circles but I am going to be honest about it.  I like money.  I would like to make some more.  I am not planning to totally sell out and turn this creative space into a something full of ads but if I can earn a few extra dollars while maintaining my integrity and sharing things that I already love, I think that would be a wonderful thing.

This year I am focusing on the business of blogging.  I did not go to school for this and everything I know I have learned from others (that have so kindly shared information with me) or from Google.  I would like to get a more solid foundation on how blogging works so I have signed up for a few conferences this Summer.  I will be sharing more information on the others as they get closer but one that I am really excited about that is taking place next month is SoFabU on the Road!

SoFabU on the Road is a one-day event that allows bloggers to learn ways to set themselves apart from the rest. It features hands-on, interactive sessions for bloggers to implement what they learn right on the spot. The sessions are paired with a fun city-specific adventure where you’ll get to put your newly learned skills to test. The NYC adventure is a Photo Safari tour of the city. The events are open to all bloggers and are sponsored nationally by MüllerKraft and iBlog.

JUNE 20TH, 2015

 WEWORK. 54 W. 40TH ST. NEW YORK, NY 10018 (2ND FLOOR).

While I will be attending the NYC event, there are also conferences in Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Bentonville.  You can check out the full schedule here.

I’m really excited to hear the keynote speaker, Jessica Woodbusy, who will be talking about SEO.  SEO (or search engine optimization) is SO important to our success and most of the SEO advice out there isn’t geared specifically towards single-contributor lifestyle blogs.  Jessica will cover basic SEO and specific blogger strategies to work on building search traffic and how to increase domain authority.

There will also be  sessions on Video, Email Marketing, Sponsored posts (like this one), networking, and other learning opportunities.

Are any of you attending SoFabU?  If you are, definitely get in touch!  I always love to meet new bloggers!

This post was sponsored by Collective Bias and I received payment in the form of discounted tickets for #SoFabUOTR. All opinions are mine and mine alone. #cbias

Happy Belated Memorial Day!  I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and spent some time outdoors in the Sunshine!

Now that the warmer weather is here, it’s time to revamp our beauty routines.  Just like we have packed away our heavy sweaters, we need to also change up our hair and makeup.  Instead of heavy foundation and dark lips – it is now time for dewy, tinted moisturizer and lip gloss.  I have started embracing my curls and rocking beachy, waves instead of flat-ironing my hair. It can be difficult to find the Best Beach spray to keep waves all day so, as always, I often like to do some research to find what works best for my hair.

In order to create my fabulous waves I used some of the products from John Frieda’s Beach Blonde Collection.  Don’t let the name fool you!  They work perfectly on any hair color.  I picked up the shampoo, conditioner and sea salt spray during my trip to Target for the Lily sale and I am obsessed with them!  They smell totally delicious (like a mojito almost) and create a great texture for natural looking beachy waves.

To achieve my look I completed the following steps:

1.  I washed with the Cool Dip shampoo and Smooth Seas conditioner.  Afterwards, I gave it a quick blow dry to speed up the process but you if you have the time I would definitely let it air dry.  It is better for your hair and it will help your curls have more volume.

2.  After it was dry, I grabbed one inch sections and wound them around the base of a closed curling iron.  I don’t use my clamp.  I didn’t worry about making my curls uniform.  These waves are beachy and casual and this is an unstructured look.

3.  Once I was done curling my hair I sprayed it with the Sea Salt Spray.  Then, I used my hands to scrunch and ran my fingers through the curls to loosen them up.  The whole process took me about 15 minutes!

Are you doing anything to switch up your beauty routine for the Summer?

Summer Friday!

Woo Hoo!  MDW is here and (in my mind) it is now officially SUMMER!  After the long, horrible Winter we had in NYC I could not be more excited for some Sunny beach days!

Today I am linking up Today I am linking up with AprilAmanda and Della for Friday Faves.

 Here we go:

1.  Today my office is closing early for the Holiday weekend, so I am sitting here counting down the hours.

2.  Tomorrow I am getting my highlights freshened!  Woo hoo!  I love getting my hair done!  I was thinking of doing a chop a la Kristin Cavallari but I am too chicken for now.

3.  Charlize Theron KILLED the Cannes red carpet.  Sometimes I dont love the color yellow on blondes but she is making me reconsider that notion in this gorgeous dress.  #obsessed

4.  I was in the grocery store the other day and I saw some chicken chop meat and it occurred to me that I have never made chicken burgers.  We have been using our grill like crazy and I think it would be nice to switch it up from beef and experiment.  Then, I found this recipe from Pinterest and it pretty much sealed the deal.  How delicious do those look?

5.  Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a fun bundle of accessories from Ankit!

Summer 2015 Bucket List

2015 Summer Bucket LIst Final

Since Memorial Day is this weekend (and in my mind that means it is officially Summer) I figured it was time to sit down and make a list of things I hope to accomplish in the warmer weather.  I first did this last year (as I mentioned yesterday) and it was really helpful!  I hung my bucket list on the fridge and when we were looking for things to do we would use it for inspiration.  While we did not cross everything off, we were able to complete a lot of things.  It was so much fun that I decided to try it again for 2015.

Some of the things on this list are new and some we did last year and liked so much that we hope to do them again.

What is on your 2015 bucket list?
