One of the my favorite perks of being a blogger in NYC is receiving invitations to fabulous local events. Last night I was able to attend a media preview for the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center and it was pretty amazing! SheBuysCars hosted #GirlsNightOutNYIAS and it was a great opportunity to sip champagne, hang with my favorite local blogger gals (below from left to right we have Esti from PrimeTime Parenting, Renee from Getting Fit & Fab and Destiny from Suburban Wife, City Life) and learn about new cars/brands. Every weekday I travel forty-five minutes into and then out of NYC for work. I guess that sounds like a long time but it actually goes by very quickly thanks to my smartphone! Years ago (before I had Taylor) my job was an hour and a half away and I had to drive there and back in bumper to bumper traffic. It was absolute TORTURE! It makes me really appreciate my current commute. I don’t have to watch the road and can hang in my comfy express bus seat instead and read, watch movies/TV shows, shop online and check out my Instagram feed.
All the time I spend online means that I burn through a lot of data. My old carrier would slow down my internet after I reached 4GB and it was very frustrating. I could not tell if I was just in a spot where I was getting bad service or if I had gone over my data limit. It started happening more and more so I decided to change my plan.
I am sure you know by now that I go to Walmart regularly. I am there usually a few times a month. Our local Walmart is a Supercenter so I can get everything done in one place including food shopping and oil changes.
I started my mission for more data in their electronics department. That was where I found out about Walmart Family Mobile and let me tell you – GAME CHANGER!
With Walmart Family Mobile PLUS I am able to get unlimited talk, text, & data (which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus a free movie on VUDU every month) per line for $49.88. That is less than a third of what I was paying for my old plan plus it comes with way more data!
Also, long gone are the days of having to get a pre-paid flip phone unless you lock into a contract with a carrier. They have phones from LG, HTC and Samsung. I wound up picking up a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime for $79.92! I have not paid under $600 for a smartphone in years! I was astounded!
I also bought a $25 “Starter Kit” to go along with my phone. It includes a Micro SIM card so I could use the Walmart Family Mobile plan.
Purchasing my Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and the accompanying Walmart Family Mobile Plan required no credit check, no deposit and no annual contract to sign. It was easy peasy!
Now, I don’t have to worry about running out of data during my commute and I get a free movie every month on VUDU as well. I can stream all the new releases they offer right to my smart TV and have a movie night with my best girl. She is dying to watch Goosebumps again so that may be our movie for January.
If you are looking for a plan that is less expensive and comes with more data you should definitely consider the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan! How would you use the money you would save?

2014 was a big year for A Little Glitter. It was the year that I set up my website, learned WordPress (the hard way), got it to a point where I was happy with the way it looked (after many hours of tears, tech support and small changes), met some other local bloggers and really got my feet wet in this crazy online World.
This year I am working on monetizing my site. I know that can be a taboo subject in blogging circles but I am going to be honest about it. I like money. I would like to make some more. I am not planning to totally sell out and turn this creative space into a something full of ads but if I can earn a few extra dollars while maintaining my integrity and sharing things that I already love, I think that would be a wonderful thing.
This year I am focusing on the business of blogging. I did not go to school for this and everything I know I have learned from others (that have so kindly shared information with me) or from Google. I would like to get a more solid foundation on how blogging works so I have signed up for a few conferences this Summer. I will be sharing more information on the others as they get closer but one that I am really excited about that is taking place next month is SoFabU on the Road!
SoFabU on the Road is a one-day event that allows bloggers to learn ways to set themselves apart from the rest. It features hands-on, interactive sessions for bloggers to implement what they learn right on the spot. The sessions are paired with a fun city-specific adventure where you’ll get to put your newly learned skills to test. The NYC adventure is a Photo Safari tour of the city. The events are open to all bloggers and are sponsored nationally by Müller, Kraft and iBlog.
SOFABU ON THE ROAD, NEW YORK.
JUNE 20TH, 2015
WEWORK. 54 W. 40TH ST. NEW YORK, NY 10018 (2ND FLOOR).
While I will be attending the NYC event, there are also conferences in Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Bentonville. You can check out the full schedule here.
I’m really excited to hear the keynote speaker, Jessica Woodbusy, who will be talking about SEO. SEO (or search engine optimization) is SO important to our success and most of the SEO advice out there isn’t geared specifically towards single-contributor lifestyle blogs. Jessica will cover basic SEO and specific blogger strategies to work on building search traffic and how to increase domain authority.
There will also be sessions on Video, Email Marketing, Sponsored posts (like this one), networking, and other learning opportunities.
Are any of you attending SoFabU? If you are, definitely get in touch! I always love to meet new bloggers!
This post was sponsored by Collective Bias and I received payment in the form of discounted tickets for #SoFabUOTR. All opinions are mine and mine alone. #cbias
Good morning loves! Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a relaxing and fun weekend! Sorry for my lack of posting yesterday but it took me a minute to get caught up on my weekday responsibilities and I would rather share nothing than put something up that is half-assed.
To set this week off the right way I am hosting a really fun giveaway from Ankit. Even if you are unfamiliar with the name, you have probably seen some of their products as they are sold in PacSun and (my fav) Forever21. They make adorable ear buds, tech accessories and novelty items. They recently sent me a few products to review and I have been fighting with Taylor over them ever since they arrived.
This change jar is so hilarious and useful! I loathe having coins floating around. It is a pet peeve of mine. (Ask my husband. He is forever getting in trouble for chucking change in the center console of my car. Who does that?) Now, at the end of the day we put our coins in this bad boy and I swear it is filling up really quickly. Plus, I really love the saying. Totally my style!
Taylor has been trying to gain ownership of the gorgeous rose and gold headphones and charger they sent me. So far she has been unsuccessful because they are adorable and I am keeping them. I may buy her her own pair though since Antik has so many cute designs. How amazing are these?
Today, the lovely team at Ankit is giving one lucky reader the opportunity to win a change jar, earbuds and a charger of their very own! You can enter below using the Rafflecopter widget.
Good luck! xx
