Cherry Chocolate Ice Cream Trifles

Taylor and I moved into our new apartment in December and while I love our place and the area, we recently discovered there is one thing that is missing.  THERE IS NO ICE CREAM MAN on our block.  This may not be a big deal to some people but to us it is huge!  We are ice cream lovers and look forward to having a frozen treat pretty much every Summer night.  Things are much more relaxed in the warmer months and we like to celebrate school being out with dessert.  To make up for our lack of ice cream man, I recently picked up a bunch of my favorite Blue Bunny® ice cream at Walmart.  They have a great selection and I had a hard time choosing just one.  I actually left with three.  #dontjudgeme

I love how the new clear packaging shows off the swirls and mix-ins!  I wound up buying Blue Bunny® Cherry Pickin’ Chocolate™, Blue Bunny® Pistachio Almond and Blue Bunny® Cookies & Cream.

While the ice cream is delicious by itself, we decided to switch things up by creating trifles and they were so amazing that I just had to share them with you guys!

Here are the ingredients we used:

Blue Bunny #SoHoppinGood Ingredients

I started out with two plastic tumblers that I scooped up (hehe – see what I did there?) at Walmart for a dollar each.  I put a scoop of Blue Bunny® Cherry Pickin’ Chocolate™ in each cup.

Next, I crumbed up some brownies and put a layer of those on top of the ice cream.  I was not in the mood to bake that day so I just bought some pre-made ones and they were perfect.

I heated up some Smucker’s Microwaveable Hot Fudge Topping in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds and spooned it over the brownie layer.  I picked up a jar from Walmart along with the rest of ingredients.  Smucker’s ice cream toppings are a great inexpensive way to add some fun to your Summer ice cream.

Next, I put a layer of fresh cherries on top of the hot fudge.

Cherries

Finally, I finished off the trifles with another layer of ice cream, some whipped topping and a maraschino cherry.

This recipe is great because it is easily modified based on your favorite flavors and mix-ins.  I bought some Smucker’s Caramel Spoonable Ice Cream Topping and I plan to use it in the future with snickerdoodle cookies and vanilla ice cream.  Mmmmm!  I am making myself hungry just thinking about it!
